Playing the piano in music therapy can be incredibly beneficial for seniors, offering both emotional and cognitive support. The act of playing, even at a basic level, can stimulate brain activity, improve memory, and boost mood. Music provides a creative outlet for self-expression, helping to reduce feelings of anxiety or depression. For many seniors, the familiarity of melodies can trigger positive memories, fostering a sense of connection and joy. Whether through simple tunes or complex compositions, piano therapy can bring comfort and vitality to their lives.

During the challenging Covid-19 period from 2021 to 2023, Amber volunteered her time and talents to bring joy and connection to elderly residents at four different senior centers.
Each visit saw her playing music alongside young musicians, offering a sense of comfort and normalcy to the seniors during an isolating time. With around 50 or more senior residents at each center, Amber and her fellow musicians shared live performances that not only uplifted spirits but also provided an important outlet for emotional expression and connection, bringing joy to more than 250 seniors.
Her commitment to bringing music into the lives of the elderly during such a difficult time reflected her deep compassion and dedication to improving the well-being of the senior community, helping them feel less alone in an era of social distancing.
